About the Image Converter

The Image Converter changes the file format of your pictures. Turn a WebP image from a website into a JPG that any program can open, convert a PNG screenshot to a smaller JPG, or save photos as WebP for faster pages.

You can convert many images at once and download each result or everything together as a ZIP file.

How to use the Image Converter

  1. Choose your images or drag them onto the box.
  2. Pick the format you want: JPG, PNG or WebP.
  3. For JPG and WebP, set the quality.
  4. Press Convert, then download the files.

How it works

Each picture is decoded by your browser, drawn onto a canvas and encoded again in the new format. JPG and WebP are lossy formats that trade a little detail for a much smaller file, while PNG is lossless and keeps every pixel but is usually larger.

JPG does not support transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white when you convert to JPG.

Your files stay private

This tool works entirely inside your browser. The files you choose are read and processed on your own device and are never uploaded to our servers, so your documents and pictures remain private.

Frequently asked questions

Which formats can I convert from?

Any image your browser can open, which normally includes JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and BMP.

Will converting lose quality?

Converting to PNG loses nothing. Converting to JPG or WebP applies lossy compression, so keep your original if quality matters.

Why does WebP conversion not work in my browser?

Very old browsers cannot save WebP files. The tool warns you and saves PNG instead. Update your browser or choose JPG.
